P.S. What about Hollywood?

Hey folks, it’s Command and Signal again with a BONUS EPISODE!

Throughout the process of making the podcast, I came up against some pushback from some that if I’m talking about propaganda and fake news, I should look at Hollywood. Now, personally, I do not think Hollywood fits into the type of propaganda Command and Signal was about- foreign agitation using wedge issues to misinform. 

However, I am going to follow my own advice and explore this topic. So let’s explore it through the lens of the military- does Hollywood propagandize the military?

In this episode I spoke with two Marine Corps veterans that are also filmmakers.

Tyler Mendelson:

Tyler is an OEF veteran of the Marine Corps and filmmaker. He filmed “The Hun” after a successful independent fundraising campaign. “The Hun” is set during World War 1 and follows a young, fresh soldier on the front lines in Europe.

Joshua DeFour:

Joshua DeFour is an OEF veteran of the Marine Corps and filmmaker. “The 11th Order” was his Master’s Thesis film at the University of Texas in Austin and was a semi-finalist for the student Academy Awards.
